Some of you enjoy their holidays, others stay in Paris… but everyone must protect themselves from the sun in order to avoid premature cutaneous aging and diseases of the skin.
Whether you doy pill on a lounger in the Cyclades or enjoy cocktails on the terrace, applying an SPF (sun protection factor) adapted to your phototype is essential. Nevertheless, it is easy to get lost among all the indices indicated on the bottles of sunscreen.
So how to distinguish an index 20 from an index 50? What time to sunbathe? I will explain everything to you!
What SPF for my skin?
In general, the solar indices vary from 15 to 100 and are chosen depending on the phototype and the degree of sunshine.
The SPF index is a multiplication factor of the time that would be needed for a sunburn without protection. For example, if one of my clients applies an index SPF 30, 300 minutes will be enough for her to catch a sunburn that she would have had in 10 minutes without protection.
Attention ladies (and sirs), this logic applies only to those who apply 2 milligrams of product per cm² of skin… Or the equivalent of 6 teaspoons of cream! So if you picnic on the beach, reserve your dessert spoon for something other than Marie-Catherine’s clafoutis…
What SPF for my skin?
UVB, UVA… quèsako?
Sorry to disappoint you but no protection fully protects from the sun’s rays. This is why, even coated with cream, we tan!
A cream of index 30 passes 10% of the UVB and a cream of index 50 leaves 5%.
UVB radiation is unfortunately not the only cause of sunburn and future skin diseases, UVA are also involved in this charming combo!
They cross the clouds and infiltrate your skin to the dermis. It is therefore recommended to protect yourself by applying a cream that filters UVB AND UVA.
At what time can I tan?
Whatever the schedule, I say stop to intensive tanning sessions! Our sun capital is not infinite (far from it) and it is not renewable either… So be careful not to expose yourself between 12h and 16h, the perfect time to get a nice sunburn!
And now, you have no excuse not to use FPS, summer and winter… especially that textures and innovative products are constantly being marketed! Anti-sand mist, spray, wet skin gel, tinted cream… My favorite is still the Mineral Radiance UV Defense in SPF 50 from SkinCeuticals because it effectively prevents photo-aging. I slice it before jumping into my pool for a few lengths!
After reasonably taking advantage of the sun, I advise you to apply the Blossom Cerate on your face, your body and even your hair! This wax-oil magnifies and prolongs your tan and nourishes your skin deeply.
For a perfect reconstruction of your skin, apply the Blossom Cerate in mask and leave the pose during the night… The results are absolutely stunning. Your skin is velvety and infinitely nourished.
